YOG School Sports Challenge
Discover the Olympic Winter Sports!
In co-operation with local winter sports associations, the Organising Committee of the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games has come up with a range of projects to raise interest in sport and exercise among young people in Tyrol. These projects will run from autumn 2010 until December 2011 and give schoolchildren throughout the region the chance to try their hand at the following Olympic winter sports: skeleton, curling, tobogganing, ice hockey, figure skating, short track ice skating, skiing, biathlon and ski jumping. The young athletes will then have the chance to compete against each other in these disciplines as part of YOG School Sports Challenge events held during the Winter Youth Olympic Games in January 2012 - cheered on by specially-created fan groups! The YOG School Sports Challenge also gives teachers the opportunity to develop their own skills through extra training courses.
