Drumming workshop

YOG Arts Project

YOG Dance, Drumming, Schuhplattl & Wall of fame

The Youth Olympic Games Arts Project gives the participants a stage to express themselves through dance, music and modern art.
Ömer Erdogdu, a well-known dance instructor and choreographer from Innsbruck, will offer two YOG Dance courses per day. Everyone who enjoys dancing and wants to learn new hip-hop steps is welcome to join in the fun.
Furthermore, visitors will have the chance to try their hand on the big African Djembes in the Drumming Workshops, which will be held twice a day. In a group of 50 drummers, everyone will have the chance to find their own rhythm and create a unique sound experience.
The international athletes will not only get the chance to learn the YOG Dance but will also get a taste of real Tyrolean culture and enjoy a performance of the traditional ‘Schuhplatteln’ dance or try it out themselves.
The Wall of Fame will await all visitors of the Culture & Education Programme on the 3rd floor of Congress Innsbruck for everyone to leave their individual YOG message on its eight-metre-long marble surface.

Starting with an easy general beat – the overture and heartbeat of the music - everybody can join in.
At the second stage the coordination between right and left hand will be trained in a fun and playful way.
At the end the group will improvise together and enjoy the energy of this rhythm.

Wall of Fame

Wall of Fame

Wall of Fame
During the Wall of Fame, participants will work together to construct a temporary wall where everyone involved in the Youth Olympic Games can leave a personal message or statement.

The resulting piece of art will reflect the spirit and the enthusiasm of the Youth Olympic Games.

The basic idea is for the participants to write on the wall rather than paint, turning the wall into a huge message board.
