Innsbruck’s public transport network IVB and its affiliate Innbus are responsible for the majority of the public transport services in Tyrol’s capital Innsbruck. In 1941, LBIHiT – as IVB was formerly known – changed its name to Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe and merged with several private bus-service providers. Under the umbrella of IVB, the first trolley bus service became operational in 1944. Today, IVB has approximately 30 trams, 100 single-decker buses and 70 articulated buses, as well as 20 rural buses.
