Luge
A luge is a small one- or two-person sled on which athletesrace supine (face up) and feet-first. Athletes steer the sled by flexing the runnerswith the calf of each leg or by exerting opposite shoulder pressure on theseat. The 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games will feature Singles competitions for men and women as well as a Mixed Team Relay and Doubles. In both Singles and Doubles, the total time of the two runs completed determines the winner. A Mixed-Team Relay Eventwill also take place. Here, teams are formed of one man, one woman and one Doubles pair. Mixed-NOC teams comprising athletes from two different nations are also permitted.
