Skeleton
In skeleton, athletes race down an artificial ice track on aspecially designed single sled. The competitions for the 1st WinterYouth Olympic Games will be composed of individual women's andmen’s races. Athletes slide down the course face-down in a prone position and must steerthe sled through steep banked turns and straight sections at speeds exceeding 100km/h. Although the sled may look likea luge, the sport is, in fact, considered a bobsleigh sport. Each race comprises two runs; the athlete with the fastest combined time isthe winner.
