Be part of it!
During the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games, over 1,200 Volunteers will have the chance to experience a brand new festival of winter sport and culture. As part of the organising team, the highly motivated team of Volunteers will be a central pillar of the event – it is their hard work, reliability, experience and skills that will be decisive in making the Games a success. Our Volunteers will be at the heart of the action when the Olympic Flame comes to Innsbruck for the third time!
Ten reasons...
... why volunteering at the Olympic Games will be an unforgettable experience:
- There is no other event in the world which inspires the same fascination and enthusiasm as the Olympic Games.
- The Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games are the first ever event of this kind to take place and, as such, will go down in history – never before have there been Winter Olympic Games organised exclusively for young athletes!
- Being part of this international project featuring athletes from over 60 nations means having the chance to meet people from all four corners of the planet.
- The clear, flat organisational structure means that, through hard work and dedication, Volunteers have the opportunity to put themselves forward for positions of responsibility.
- As well as personal and professional experience, Volunteers will also have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications through training courses and hands-on activities.
- The Olympic Rings and the Olympic Values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship act as a guarantee for the quality of the Games and will feature on the Volunteers’ certificate of participation.
- Taking part in the events and training courses organised for the Volunteer Community as well as volunteering during the Olympic Games themselves are a great way to create friendships which will last well beyond the Games and the end of university.
- The limited-edition Innsbruck 2012 uniform, which Volunteers will receive for the Games and are allowed to keep afterwards, not only identifies you as a Volunteer but is also high-quality winter clothing and a fantastic memento.
- The Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games are the third Olympic Games to be held in Innsbruck, Seefeld, Tyrol and Austria. Not many generations have had the chance to experience such a major sporting event live!
- We, the Innsbruck 2012 Organising Committee, need the experience, skills and qualifications of the Volunteers. Without Volunteers the Youth Olympic Games simply could not happen. You are the backbone of this event.
