The Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Torch Relay

The Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Torch will be lit in Greece on 17 December 2011 and will then go to Innsbruck. The Torch Relay throughout Austria will start on 27 December 2011 in Tyrol’s capital and will end at the Opening Ceremony on 13 January 2012.

Representing Excellence, Respect and Friendship, the Flame will be carried by 2,012 inspirational Torch Bearers during the Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympic Torch Relay. As it makes its way across Austria on an 18-day journey it will bring the excitement of the Games to everyone.

Participating cities and municipalities

The Innsbruck2012 Youth Olympic Torch Relay will help shine a light on the whole of Austria– from dynamic urban areas to famous ski resorts and places offering great support to the Youth Olympic Games. End of Day Celebrations in cities and municipalities will show off the best of the local area, bringing people together to mark the Olympic Flame's arrival.​

Carrying the Youth Olympic Flame

A total of 2,012 inspirational national and international Torch Bearers will be chosen to carry the Youth Olympic Flame during the Torch Relay. Their personal stories will have the power to inspire people watching around the world.
