The IOC Young Reporters Programme is a unique initiative that was first implemented at the 1st Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August 2010.
In line with the Youth Olympic Games' cultural and educational themes, the programme offered 29 young journalists from 25 countries across the globe representing all five continents the opportunity to gain professional experience. In Singapore the Young Reporters experienced the Games by reporting and, at the same time, learning from highly experienced Olympic mentors and veteran sport reporters in the field of television, radio, written press, photography and new media. The group of young reporters, aged between 18 and 24, included 15 young men and 16 young women.
As a continuation of this program, 15 of the Young Reporters trained in Singapore have been invited to attend the 1st Youth Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck (13-22 January 2012) where, under the guidance of the programme's mentors, they will further expand their reporting skills in a real, competitive, event environment.
The IOC Young Reporters Programme is creating tomorrow's Olympic reporters today.
